Northeast Pack Hockey League Announces Mark Mobus As Commissioner

The Northeast Pack Hockey League is excited to announce they have hired Mark Mobus as their first league commissioner. The Northeast Pack Hockey League was founded in the 2019-2020 season and has been led by the six organizations hockey directors. Currently, the six organizations that make up the Northeast Pack Hockey League are Bishop Kearney Selects, Long Island Gulls, Mid Fairfield, Mount St. Charles, New Jersey Rockets and Pittsburgh Penguins Elite. The league is considered one of the best leagues in the country for youth hockey. In the 2023-2024 season, the league had a total of 22 teams with 19 of those teams qualifying for the USA Hockey Tier 1 Nationals. The league has had at least one team win a USA Hockey National Championship since 2019.

Mark Mobus is currently working for the Buffalo Jr. Sabres Organization and will fulfill his obligations for the duration of the season. Mark has been with the Jr. Sabres since 2014 when the LECOM Harborcenter was built and they introduced their youth teams. He has served in many roles in his ten seasons with the organization. Mobus was a head coach before transitioning to an administrative role, as the General Manager and Administrative Director for the organization as well as managing the midget teams. In addition to his managerial responsibilities, he has led fund raising initiatives to benefit the Buffalo Jr. Sabres Organization. Mobus has a long history of educating and mentoring youth as a public-school teacher for the last 24 years. "I am very grateful for the ten years in Buffalo and the relationships that I have formed. Buffalo has helped me grow as a person and leader within the hockey world. I am honored and excited to become the Northeast Pack Hockey League Commissioner and to work with the six organizations that are part of the league. This league is the best league in the country and I can't wait to continue to build the brand and exposure for its players," said Mark Mobus.

"Mid Fairfield is excited to have Mark Mobus join the Northeast Pack Hockey League as our first commissioner in the history of the league. Mark is dedicated to showcasing our elite players to maximize their exposure to USA Hockey, scouts, junior and college coaches. With Mark's leadership, we will take the NE Pack to the next level," said Gary Zegras the Vice President of Mid Fairfield.

"We couldn't be more excited to have Mark become the league commissioner. Mark brings constant professionalism and a passion to grow the NE Pack League. He values the core principles of what the NE Pack represents. The belief in a player first platform where they can be seen and compete at the highest level. As a group, we have bound together to put the players and families first and to create the best league in the country with the NE Pack. Mark will bring his experience to grow the footprint and tighten up the accessibility to our league. We are very fortunate to have him," said Vinny Smith the Long Island Gulls Director of Hockey.

"We are excited to have Mark Mobus as commissioner! He is passionate, detailed and professional. The goal of the league is to maximize player exposure, play highly competitive games and advance players to the next level. With Mark leading the way, we are confident the NE Pack will continue to produce battle-tested players and teams," said Danny MacKinnon the Executive Director and Hockey Operations for the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite organization.
